What's in the program?

Level One

The program covers a range of topics including: Planning for development; Operational management; Meetings; Financial planning; Promotion and public relations.

Level Two

The program covers a range of topics including: Communication; Performance Management; Meetings; Finance; marketing, promotion and public relations.

Who's the program designed for?

Anyone involved in the management and/or delivery of sport, whether salaried or volunteer, full time or part time. The Level One program is suitable for sport administrators wanting to develop skills and those wishing to add to existing qualifications. The Level Two program is suitable for managers wanting to update knowledge and skills in these critical areas of sport management.

What qualification is obtained?

The Distance Learning Program leads to either the award of Level One Sport Administration or Level Two Sport Administration under the National Accreditation Scheme for Sport Administrators (NASSA). Successful candidates can add either the NASSA Level One accreditation or the NASSA Level Two accreditation to their credentials.

How can the ASSA program assist my career?

Apart from the important professional development outcomes, ASSA accreditation is widely recognised in assisting employment prospects within the sport & recreation industry. In fact a 1996 industry survey found "that 72% of employers viewed ASSA accreditation as a positive factor in candidate selection for employment." (Sportspeople report, MCM Sportspeople 1996)

How is the program structured?

Level One

Contact us by sending an email to our email address, assa_sa@hotmail.com letting us know that you wish to enrol in the Level One Sport Administration course. Work through each chapter using the online resources found under Courses on this site. The Study Review questions are designed to be completed over a fifteen week period with an open book essay question at week sixteen. The maximum time allowed for completion of the Program is twenty weeks from the date of enrolment.

Level Two

Contact us by sending an email to our email address, assa_sa@hotmail.com letting us know that you wish to enrol in the Level One Sport Administration course. When you have paid for the course you will be supplied with a password to access the material. Work through the online material. The maximum time allowed for completion of the Program is six months from the date of enrolment.

Is there a Program Supervisor?

ASSA(SA) appoints a Program Supervisor to each course participant as well as providing options for study or reference groups. The Program Supervisor's name and contact details are confirmed in the introductory letter.

What's the Cost?

The fee for the Level One course is $70. This includes a silver membership worth $50 to new members. Members wanting to do the course get a special rate of $30.

The fee for the Level Two course is $150 for existing members and $200 for non-members.
